United States companies buy up the competition abroad

Some Ohio companies may be part of a recent trend among American firms to buy up foreign ventures that in previous years would have been their competition. The business formation and planning strategy was seen as becoming more popular as the domestic growth of some US companies had gone flat in the last few years. The trend was reported by KMPG in their September 2013 report. The business analysis firm releases semi-annual reports on mergers and acquisitions.

KPMG's newest report showed that US firms performed 116 acquisitions in emerging markets in the first half of 2013. That represented an increase over the 110 reported in the first half of 2012. The figure also detailed higher overall mergers and acquisitions movement in the economies of Australia, Europe, Japan and Canada. However, the analysts found that deal volume went down 13 percent from the same periods in 2012 and 2013, from 607 to 526, respectively.

The head of the KMPG US High Growth Markets practice said that U.S. companies were showing higher levels of confidence domestically, and that this trend was beginning to translate into more acquisition activity in the world's emerging markets. He added that the US was one of only a few developed economies to see a rise in the number of deals.

Business formation and planning is a vitally important area for entrepreneurs looking to start or grow their companies. An Ohio attorney may be helpful to individuals and corporations looking to execute a buyout, go into a joint venture or ensure regulatory compliance as they expand their industry profile. An attorney might offer assistance to a start-up company or to established corporations looking for businesses to acquire.
